Local Musician Spotlight // Wyatt Pike
A 2019 graduate of Park City High School, local musician Wyatt Pike is making the most of his 'gap year' to write music and play locally as much as possible before attending Berklee School of Music in the spring.
You may have heard Wyatt play Park Silly Sunday Market, Kimball Arts Fest and Fuego Bistro where he'll be appearing often this season. “I am under 21 so I haven’t been able to participate in the bar scene yet… but that’s something I look forward to exploring once I’m legal.”
Being younger than most working musicians in Park City has not held him back. “It always feels exciting when reaching out to new venues as I think they expect less experience from an 18-year-old.”
Wyatt has nurtured great connections with notable venues in Park City which he can use as references and his father helped set up a website. “I believe both these elements help paint a “pro” image for my musical career… I likely wouldn’t get the number of gigs I do if it weren’t for the time I’ve put in performing and the professional looking website.”
In addition to his playing gigs, Wyatt has two DJ slots on KPCW. Wednesdays from 10 am to noon he plays a mix of songs including some of his favorite artists, Anders Osborne, Leon Bridges, Neil Young and others. He also teams up with Peg Bodell on Saturday mornings 7-10 am. “We’re responsible for Saturday’s ski reports, NPR Weekend Edition, a local news segment (live each day in the studio), and a summary of weekend events. That shift is always fun, Peg and I have a great dynamic… both being artists, new to radio, and INTO IT!”
Locals wanting to check out Wyatt and his music can find out details about upcoming gigs and his first record release on his website www.wyattpike.com. “I’m planning on releasing a record soon, hopefully in February. (Depending on how quickly I can record them.) To look out for that, stay updated via Instagram (@wyattpike), Facebook (Wyatt Pike Music), and website.
