Open Call // 4th Annual Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-A-Long
Calling all talent!
The Egyptian Theatre has an open call out for their 4th annual Park City Holiday Spectacular and Sing-A-Long. At the helm again this year will be Director Amber Hanson and Musical Director Debra Cook.
In the early days of the Spectacular Ad Sing-A-Long, the turnout for auditions was minimal. Basically everyone who showed up — got in. Now, things are different. In addition to the show's growing popularity, this year it will run one less day and show time will be held to 90 minutes. “It's going to be stiff competition this year,” explains Director Hanson.
Hopefully, they will cast a wide variety of ages and talents. “We have had from age 4 to age 80 in this show. Of course, the 4 year old stole the show that year!”
All acts must have a holiday theme but occasionally a few folks think ‘outside the gift box’ so to speak! “Our theatre manager Randy Barton’s son Quince performed a dance tribute to Iceland one year and dressed in a checkered full body suit,” says Hanson. “It was pretty wacky!”
According to Henson, there are always stand out performances. “Teresa Eggertsen-Cooke is phenomenal and she performs some of my favorite holiday tunes. The first time I ever heard Winter Song was in the show performed by Quinn McCall and it is now one of my favorites.”
Some traditional favorites tend to show up from year to year, but this year the directors are anticipating a fresh and diverse show. Maybe even some Chanukah acts, who knows?
The Holiday Spectacular and Sing-A-Long is an audience favorite. “It is all about coming together as a community and singing your favorite holiday tunes to get into spirit of the season.”
If you would like to audition, contact Amber at amber@parkcityshows.com for more info. All selected acts will receive 4 complimentary tickets to the performance night of their choice and a $50 Gift Card to The Egyptian.
Show dates are Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 16 at 6pm.
