EVENTS & PROGRAMS
Sundance Directors Lab - For three weeks each June in Sundance, Utah, Directors Lab Fellows rehearse, shoot and edit four to six scenes from their screenplays under the mentorship of accomplished directors, editors, cinematographers, and actors who serve as Creative Advisors. Surrounded by seasoned professionals, yet removed from the typical pressures of production, Lab Fellows are offered a unique opportunity to see the script "on its feet," develop skills and take risks.
Sundance Screenplay Reading Series - Each year, six work-in-progress screenplays are selected for reading by an ensemble of professional actors in New York or Los Angeles. Enjoyable for audiences and invaluable for screenwriters who are often hearing the script performed for the first time, the Reading Series offers a fresh perspective on script development and fine-tuning.
Sundance Screenwriters Lab - Twice a year, a group of 12 Screenwriters Lab Fellows spend five days in the mountains of Sundance, Utah, focused entirely on crafting the most compelling version of their original feature film scripts. One-on-one story sessions with creative advisors and group discussions with the entire Lab community support, challenge and inspire the screenwriters during this intensive process of script development.
Tree Room Author Series - The Sundance Resort presents their annual Tree Room Author Series on fiction and politics/humanities. The 2007 Series included such authors as Greg Mortenson, author of "Three Cups of Tea," Leslie Marmon Silko, "Ceremony," Joe Hill, "Heart-Shaped Box," Tony Hillerman, "Shape Shifter," and Eric Schlosser, "Fast Food Nation."
Writers at Work - Each summer, Writers at Work offers a week-long conference that celebrates the vibrant literary community in the state and provides an opportunity for aspiring writers to meet and learn from established professionals in the literary and publishing worlds. Since 1985, a distinguished faculty of writers, agents, and editors has been assembled in Park City and Salt Lake City to instruct and inspire an ever-growing number of conference participants.
