Utah Film Commission - More than 800 films and TV productions have been filmed in Utah since the 1920's including Stagecoach, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Mission Impossible 2. The Utah Film Commission was formed in 1974, and is available to assist you with your production and filming needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, from initial scouts and pre-production to principal photography and post-production. The Commission provides professional and timely consulting to your production questions, and can assist you with the inevitable last-minute changes with your production needs.
Park City Film Series - Throughout the year, the Park City Film Council offers movies at Park City's Santy Auditorium which are not normally available through commercial outlets and films which have been recognized as unique and exceptional cinematic efforts. The Film Council also provides opportunities to Summit County high school and college students to further their understanding, appreciation and experience of the art of film making through sponsorship of activities with film producers.
Park City Film Music Festival - The seventh annual Park City Film Music Festival will be held in Park City and Salt Lake City in January 2009. Awards are given for the Best Use of Music in the categories of Full-Length Feature Film, Documentary Film and Short Film. The 2009 Music Festival will soon be accepting submissions from filmmakers and film composers.
Sundance Directors Lab - For three weeks each June in Sundance, Utah, Directors Lab Fellows rehearse, shoot and edit four to six scenes from their screenplays under the mentorship of accomplished directors, editors, cinematographers, and actors who serve as Creative Advisors. Surrounded by seasoned professionals, yet removed from the typical pressures of production, Lab Fellows are offered a unique opportunity to see the script "on its feet," develop skills and take risks.
Sundance Institute Documentary Series - Free monthly screening series that presents some of the most compelling films to come out of the Sundance Film Festival. Click here for a current schedule of screenings, held at the Park City Library (1255 Park Avenue). Screenings start at 7 p.m.
Sundance Film Festival - Held in and around Park City for ten days each January, the Sundance Film festival is widely regarded as the premier U.S. showcase for American and international independent film.
Sundance Institute Outdoor Film Festival - An annual community program that presents seldom-seen films from the Sundance Film Festival as well as independent and mainstream films that reflect the curatorial and artistic focus of the Sundance Institute. The festival is a seven-week screening series that takes place during the summer, under the stars at City Park.
Sundance Screenplay Reading Series - Each year, six work-in-progress screenplays are selected for reading by an ensemble of professional actors in New York or Los Angeles. Enjoyable for audiences and invaluable for screenwriters who are often hearing the script performed for the first time, the Reading Series offers a fresh perspective on script development and fine-tuning.
Sundance Screenwriters Lab - Twice a year, a group of 12 Screenwriters Lab Fellows spend five days in the mountains of Sundance, Utah, focused entirely on crafting the most compelling version of their original feature film scripts. One-on-one story sessions with creative advisors and group discussions with the entire Lab community support challenge and inspire the screenwriters during this intensive process of script development.
