27 Years of Connecting the Community with the Arts
The Park City Summit County Arts Council was founded in 1983 as the Park City Foundation for the Arts and Humanities. Since then, the Arts Council has:
- Re-granted over $525,000 to individual artists and arts organizations
- Spearheaded the RAP Tax legislation that will generate over $4 million for arts and culture in Summit County through the year 2010
- Created public art policy and managed the Park City Public Art Advisory Board which makes recommendations to the City Council on funds appropriated for public art
- Provided support to help launch arts and cultural programs and events such as the Park City Film Series and Mountain Town Stages, both of which were founded as Arts Council programs and later spun off as their own successful non-profit organizations
- Initiated cultural tourism marketing campaigns such as August Artstravaganza to promote the variety of arts and cultural offerings throughout the County during the month of August, and a media event in New York City to promote our arts and culture to the national media
