The 2018 Grammy nominations were announced last week and one category, Best Contemporary Blues Album, should be of particular interest to music lovers in Park City, as two of the bands nominated have scheduled tour stops in town this month.

Read MoreLive theatrical performances have long been a centerpiece of Park City's culture. In the late 1800's, the ornate Park City Opera House was located near our current site. On a warm June night in 1898, fire roared downhill from the American Hotel and quickly consumed most of the town, including the Opera House. In a Determined effort to restore live theatre to the town, the Dewey Theatre soon opened its doors in 1899 on the site of what is now the Egyptian Theatre. The Dewey remained a popular cultural center until its roof collapsed under a record-breaking snow load in 1916. Their major fundraiser is an annual performance of “an original show by the people, for the people.” Writers creatively weave local issues, quirks, passions and personalities into a satirical glimpse at the life we love.
This year’s performances of Giving A BLEEP take place at Prospector Square Theatre on October 27 and 28 as well as Nov 3 and 4.

Rick was 23 when his father retired in Utah, and he followed the family here. While a senior in High School, Kimball's English score wasn't up to par, so needing extra credit to graduate, he agreed to play the role of a super awkward student in a one act play and it changed the direction of his life.

As a kid, Joshua felt a powerful connection with Joel Grey's 1972 movie performance. He wanted to play this role not only due to its incredible message, dark humor, and openly queer themes, but also to be that representation for others like himself. “Very few roles embody a strong queer character who can be as feminine and wild as he pleases. Even fewer aren't the butt of a joke or a caricature of a LGBT individual. When I was young and out, I searched to find my place in a very conservative environment, tried to find other people like me.”

If you’re a visitor, The Follies offer a special window into Park City and its local culture.
Poetry is a magical art. It entices us to view things through metaphor and symbolism. To pay attention to detail and the meaning beneath the words. To hear color and see sound. The annual Poetry Out Loud Festival encourages students from across the country to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. Each year since 2012, the Utah Arts & Museums Arts Education Program has partnered with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation to host school wide competitions across the state.
