Norman Oppenheimer is a small time New York fixer who befriends a young politician at a low point in his life. Three years later, when the politician becomes the prime minister of Israel, Norman's life dramatically changes for better and worse. Richard Gere, who provides an intricate portrait of a particular New York character, keeps getting better late in his career.
