Living an Inspired Life: Artist Spotlight on Lyndsie Nash
The Arts Council of Park City & Summit County is proud to feature Lyndsie Nash as part of the CREATE PC Locals Artist Collective, open Wednesday through Sunday from 12 to 6 PM.
Art invites us to discover the world through someone else’s eyes. For Lyndsie, painting begins with living an inspired life, simply and genuinely. Beyond the boundaries of a frame, she believes art lives in collective experiences. She paints to share her experiences through curiosity, awareness, and connection.
Growing up lakeside in Northern Michigan, her earliest memories were shaped by the outdoors and creative exploration. She studied clothing design and built a career in the outdoor industry, designing and testing gear with world-class athletes throughout the Sierra Nevada Mountains and beyond. After teaching at California College of the Arts, she eventually made her home in Park City, where mountain living continues to inform her work.
In 2020, Lyndsie began building her career as a contemporary fine artist. Drawing on her foundation in composition, color theory, and design, she embraces the idea that painting is both inspiration and problem-solving. She has studied with artists including Max Ginsberg, John Darley, and David Shevlino. Her paintings often explore women in natural landscapes and intimate connections with horses, capturing compelling light, graceful gestures, and atmospheric effects. Beauty in the everyday is her guiding mantra.
As a CREATE PC participant, Lyndsie values the vulnerability and joy that come with sharing her work. The local artist collective has created meaningful opportunities to connect with collectors and fellow artists, fostering a supportive environment grounded in an abundance mindset. Artists share resources, encourage one another, and work toward building sustainable creative careers.
Her solo exhibition, Inward Outside, hosted by the Park City Library in fall 2024, featured more than thirty-five oil paintings ranging from figures within landscapes to women with horses. Reflecting on her journey, she shares that just a few years ago, she could not have imagined her work hanging in the local collections it does today. Hearing how her paintings make people feel, and seeing them displayed in homes, is deeply rewarding.
Within Summit County, Lyndsie is both an active professional and a generous community member. She has collaborated with local businesses on brand strategy and design, taught at the Kimball Art Center, and volunteered for eight years in the Masterpiece in Art program at Jeremy Ranch Elementary. She led the class of 2031 in creating a 3,500 square foot pedestrian tunnel mural titled Freedom of the Child, celebrating joy and belonging in our community.
Lyndsie believes art is not an indulgence but an investment in our most authentic selves. Thanks to the work of the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County and other creative leaders, Summit County offers a rich spectrum of Arts & Culture experiences, from gallery strolls to grassroots gatherings, public art, and school programs. These shared experiences unify and strengthen our community.
Currently, Lyndsie is working on a large painting of her daughter riding their horse midair, exploring energy, movement, and moments of stillness. Her work often plays with contrast in brushwork, opacity, color intensity, and texture, always celebrating the beauty of natural light.
She and her husband are raising two busy and inspiring children, and their two horses and cat are very much part of the family. Whenever possible, Lyndsie paints from life, creating color studies outdoors that later evolve into larger studio works. She also carries her camera everywhere, building an archive of images that spark future paintings.
