‘The Upstanders’, an IndieFlix original documentary, is challenging bullying across several channels. Join CONNECT Summit County in watching this free screening of the documentary, “About resilience and the power of connection to end bullying.” Monday, March 2, 6:30 p.m. at The Jim Santy Auditorium.

Bullying comes in many forms. The range is diverse as it occurs between friends, families, and co-workers. With the power of technology, it has caused many to experience bullying even from the comfort of their own homes. “About 37% of young people between 12-17 have been bullied online”, based on data collected from CONNECT. This form of cyber-bullying has become a new way for young people to bully, as they think they can hide behind the screen and have no accountability for their actions.

‘The Upstanders’ partnered with CONNECT Summit County are on a mission to provide a learning tool for all as a way to end bullying through the power of connection. “What I love about this film is it’s not just targeted to parents and kids. Bullying impacts everyone and this film does a beautiful deep dive into how we can all be ‘Upstanders’ and create a safe community of connection and acceptance”, said Amber Johnson with CONNECT.

The film highlights new laws and programs that have been proven to reduce bullying in schools and educates us on how we can all make systematic change. The documentary also introduces the brain science behind why people bully.

The documentary is 50 minutes. Following the film, Park City High School graduate Robby Borders will share his “Smile, You Are Beautiful” story. Like many of us Robby has been impacted by bullying and suicide, his message is powerful about how he overcame these tragedies throughout his life through resiliency.
