Local musician, Alicia Stockman is realizing a dream with the release of her debut album, These Four Walls. Singles including “Stay Between the Lines” and “Halfway to Houston” have already dropped with the full album available on November 5.

A successful Kickstarter campaign launched in January 2021 raised over $20,000 which allowed her to head to Nashville in February and record with producer Mary Bragg.

The challenges included arriving in Music City in time for a major ice-storm that delayed production for over a week and navigating the recording process during the pre-vaccine period of the pandemic.

“A big highlight for me,” recalls Alicia, “was working with all the mega-talented session musicians who played on my record. Every single player blew me away. I was very humbled that they each brought their best work to the table for my little album. I was eager to have the session musicians contribute their ideas as far as what they could bring to the song with their respective instruments, and they didn't disappoint. They tried different tones, sounds, riffs, timing, etc. and they worked to bring out the best in every song. I would have been impressed with their B- or C-game, but everybody brought their A-game and I was humbled by it.”

Alicia spent hours in the studio primarily with Mary Bragg (producer, backing vocals) and Josh Kaler (recording engineer, pedal steel, guitars, ukuleles). “I leaned pretty hard on Mary for direction because I don't have much studio experience and I wanted her to help guide everything and speak the language I was still learning. I am immensely grateful for Mary's hard work, organization, and direction on this project. She took the lead and brought this thing to life.”

Home now, in Heber, Alicia is working on the album release, putting together rewards for her Kickstarter backers and planning what’s next.

Alicia would like to say a big thank you to her community and the over 230 people who helped back this project and make it possible. “I couldn't have gotten this far without my community, friends, and family. Thank you!”
