Get ready for our annual creative and energetic event showcasing local artistic talent! The Park City Monster Drawing Rally returns Saturday July 10th from 2-6pm at Kimball Art Center’s new location at the YARD, 1251 Kearns Blvd. in Park City. Purchase tickets here.

Monster Drawing Rally is a live drawing event and party presented by the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County and the Kimball Art Center that allows spectators to spy on the creative process, build relationships with local artists, and grow their art collections.

“The goal of the event is to connect people,” Jocelyn Scudder, Executive Director of the Arts Council said. “We want to connect artists with other artists and collectors.”

Throughout the afternoon, groups of artists will draw and make 2D artwork in 50-minute shifts. Finished drawings are immediately available for purchase at $50 each. Luck of the draw decides the winner of any piece with more than one bidder. All proceeds support the production of the event and future creative community programming. "The bidding process is very intentional, Scudder explains. “We set all artwork made during the event at $50, which levels the playing field for people who are interested in bidding on the artwork. It's not just about how deep your pockets are (which is normally what determines a live auction art bid)—it's about luck of the draw.”

There will also be a silent auction for guests who don’t win the luck of the draw. Many of the participating artists will bring artwork for auction, and silent bidding will take place during the event within Kimball Art Center. 60% of the silent auction proceeds go directly back to the artists. Artists participating in the Monster Drawing Rally are donating the sale of their $50 artwork made during the event to the partner nonprofits. The silent auction is an opportunity for artists to sell work and gain exposure so there's a shared benefit for both the nonprofit and the artists.

Over twenty-five local artists will participate in this year's event. Artists include Adrianna Allegretti, Blake Peterson, Bridgette Meinhold, Olivia Dawson, Clinton Whiting, Danielle Powers, David Habben, Desarae Lee, Ecaterina Leonte, Elaine Lee, Emily Loughlin, Heather Stamenov, James Saarela, Karen Kendall, Kati Gyulassy, Kendra Vicken, Kylie Millward, Lori Morency Kun, Maja Prelec, Margaret Willis, Marley Wright, Michal Patton, Nina Miller, Olga Hegner, Olivia Dawson, Renee Mox Hall, Riley Olson, Sadie AbuHaida, Tucker Peterson, Zia Terry.

In addition to live art making, there will be music and lite bites. Boneyard is generously donating appetizers to munch on during the event. A cash bar will also be available offering specialty cocktails by High West Distillery and beer from Wasatch Brewery. Self-guided tours of Kimball Art Center’s current exhibition, The Stories Woven Within will be available too.

Tickets to the event are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door. Kids under 10 are free. Ticket sales are limited, so be sure to purchase in advance to secure your spot! See you there.
