Author Profile: Lola Beatlebrox

How can a change of hair color lead to transformation into an author? Local author, Lola Beatlebrox has an answer. “At the turn of the millennium, I changed my hair color. Since then I've logged more than 500 hours in the hairdresser's chair reading and marveling at news stories about the folly of mankind. That, and a keen sense of American social issues, inspired me to create the character of Tracy Lemon.”

In Lola's new book Petty Crimes & Head Cases, Tracy, is a hairdresser with a long list of local clientele who, while sitting in her chair, share a constant stream of conversation and observations. Although, its Tracy's husband Karl who is a policeman on his way to becoming a detective at the station, it is Tracy whose investigative skills are being honed at the salon.

“I love Tracy's can-do nature and love of her community,” says Lola, “along with her caring attitude towards her clients.”

Rumor has it there are veiled references to Park City woven into the story. “It's no secret an important character is crack news reporter Paddy J. Hamburger,” explains Lola. “The Resort is also featured but Parkites need to read the book to find out what the Resort actually does in my book.” .

A sequel called Cutting for Fun and Profit, is due out in the spring.
