Spamalot at the Egyptian Theatre

Ogden’s Ziegfeld Theatre is bringing their production of Monty Python’s Spamalot to Park City’s Egyptian Theatre November 12 to 27. This 2005 Tony Award winner for Best Musical is a laugh-filled, lovingly ripped off version of 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Director, Eb Madson, is no stranger to musical comedy. “Comedy has always come naturally to me, so comedic projects tend to drift my way more often serious projects do.  I love when I get to delve into something a little more dramatic, but there is no greater feeling in the world then to making a large audience roll with laughter.”

When asked to pinpoint a moment in the show that is guaranteed to be the ‘laugh out loud’ moment, Madson replied, “My cheeks hurt by the end of the show because I've been laughing and smiling so much. But if I had to pick one moment I will only say two words ...”Brother Maynard”.“

The song line up throughout the play is entertaining but Madson’s hands down favorite is ‘Find Your Grail’. “While still being silly at times, it's one of the more poignant songs in Spamalot. I love when comedy flips to something inspiring and moving. It kind of catches you off guard. Plus, Becky Jeane Knowles’ vocals as the Lady of the Lake are absolutely stunning. In my opinion she’s one of the best vocalists in the state and born to play this role. When the whole cast joins it just hits you with both barrels and it's beautiful.”

Madson feels the entire ensembles is impressive and one of the most talented he’s ever directed.“Caleb Parry and Landon Weeks really are such an incredible and adorable duo as King Aurthor and Patsy. Knights: Cameron Kapetanov, David Knowles, Micheal Reise, and Quinn Kapetanov are all comedic powerhouses.”

Madson adds, “This is the second show we've been able to bring up to the Egyptian since all the craziness. I just want to give a huge shout out to them and their amazing team. We love working with them and bringing top quality productions to their community. “Finally, huge shout out to all of you who come to our show's in the past or support live theater.  We've missed you and so incredibly excited to bring to you this production of Monty Pythons Spamalot.”
