Stories of Service

Using the power of story & art to honor those who have served our country.

On Veterans Day, we honor those who have served and continue to serve our nation. To pay tribute to our service members and their families this November 11th, the Arts Council in partnership with the National Ability Center and Park City Municipal is celebrating stories of veterans to honor those who have served in our nation’s armed forces through literary art.

Local veterans were asked to respond to the prompt “I am proud to have served our nation because…” They were invited to respond to this prompt in one sentence, a poem, or a personal statement about their experience and pride as a veteran.

These veteran’s stories have been transformed into large format posters that will be placed in storefronts, restaurants, and public places throughout the Park City area. Veteran posters will be installed on Tuesday, November 11th (Veterans Day) and will be available for viewing throughout the week. The Arts Council along with its partners will also post veteran stories on social media, and a digital exhibit of veteran stories can be viewed on our createpc.org website

Art connects us and inspires us. Art serves as a platform to communicate and is a mode for self expression. Art helps us gain new perspectives, as it illustrates the human experience, allowing us to understand each other better. This art project aims to do exactly that—to connect our community through the written word, highlighting and celebrating the stories of our veterans who have made sacrifices for our nation.
