Challenging times call for innovation, new ideas, experimentation, and for the Arts Council, it means exploring creative projects that support our local creative sector while spreading a little bit of joy in our community.

In an effort to create new revenue streams for local artists and restaurants during this unprecedented time, Tasty Threads // Merch Aid is an initiative developed in collaboration by the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County and Zenzee, a local apparel brand to create limited edition creative merchandise to raise money for artists and restaurants who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

By curating a series of locally designed collections of t-shirts and tote bags, the Arts Council is excited to offer fun creative products to the community -- giving people an easy way to support their favorite local artists and restaurants while giving them something in return for their contribution.

The Arts Council launched their first round of limited edition merchandise last week, piloting four creative collaborations including Sara Shepherd Edgar + Five5eeds, Emily Quinn Loughlin + Shabu, Auntie Em’s + Sharon Backurz. Even our Executive Director, Jocelyn Scudder, who is a closet-doodler, created a design to support The Wine Dive. Arts Council board member and Founder of Zenzee, Sharon Backurz is helping the artists to create production ready artwork and offering design assistance should they need it, bringing the creative merchandise to life.

T-shirts and tote bags are available for sales at createpc.org. Createpc.org is a new e-commerce platform that was launched by the Arts Council in response to the pandemic to provide an accessible online sales platform to sell artwork while our brick and mortar CREATE PC space at 660 Main Street was temporarily closed. The Arts Council is utilizing this new e-commerce website to experiment with projects such as Tasty Threads, Art Puzzles, and digital exhibitions such as Monster Drawing Rally // Digital + Rewired.

We could not have pulled this project without the generous support of Julie Hopkins of Julie  Hopkins Real Estate at Keller Williams. “When I heard about this project, I thought it was remarkably creative and a fantastic way to bridge the arts with supporting small businesses who both make Park City what it is. I am really proud of what the Arts Council put together.”said Julie.

The ultimate goal of Tasty Threads is to sell unique creative merchandise that celebrates a collaboration between local artists and restaurants, with shared profits and benefits. The community can buy this merch and support the local businesses they love in their time of need. 100% of the proceeds go back to the artist and the restaurant.

This is just the beginning -- more designs are in the works! If you are an artist, a designer, a restaurant or a potential sponsor and are interested in collaborating, please contact us at admin@pcscarts.org to participate and stay tuned for more designs coming soon.
