Traveling Exhibit at South Summit County Services Building Showcases Exceptional Young Artistic Talent in Utah State

The South Summit County Services Building was newly constructed this past year, opening its doors officially in the spring of 2018.

With a beautiful new building fully equipped with fresh, blank walls, staff was proactive and installed a Traveling Exhibit on loan from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums -- 2018 All-State High School Art Show which will be on view August 22 - September 20.

Utah Arts & Museums’ Traveling Exhibit Program is a statewide outreach program that provides schools, museums, libraries, and community galleries with the opportunity to bring curated exhibitions to their community. The program is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Established 45 years ago, The Utah All-State High School Art Show honors the best high school artists in the state for their talent, creativity, and dedication. The exhibition fosters original visual art among Utah teenagers by providing a professional forum for student artists.

Ongoing collaborative efforts help make this exhibition possible including the Springville Museum of Art, high school teachers, students, and various private partners. There were 989 total entries from around the state this year, and the selected works that are featured in this exhibition were juried by a panel of professional artists and arts administrators. 345 works from 98 schools across Utah were selected.

The works selected for The Utah All-State High School Art Show exemplify the incredible talent, diversity, originality, and creativity of Utah’s young visual artists. The exhibition is also a tribute to the art teachers in Utah’s high schools who inspire, direct and refine the work of these artists.

The South Summit County Services Building is the first stop for this traveling exhibit. The exhibit will be on view at the Cedar City Public Library, Sep 27 – Oct 30, Provo High School Jan 7 – Feb 4, 2019, and our own Summit County Library Feb 25 – Mar 29. From there, it will continue on to Delta City Public Library, Grant County Public Library, and finally will be exhibited at the Utah Arts Festival/Salt Lake Public Library next summer.

Be sure to drop by the South Summit County Services Building to check it out before September 20!
