Basket Weaving Classes at the Kimball Art Center
Native American basket weaving traditions come to Park City! Check out the kids, family, and adult workshops taking place at the Kimball Art Center April 21, 22 and 23. Visiting Artist Stephanie is an enrolled member of The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde Community of Oregon. She is Santiam and Yoncalla Kalapuya, Cow Creek Umpqua, Takelma Rogue River, Clackamas Chinook and Iroquois. She grew up listening to her mother, my Chich (Grandmother in Chinuk Wawa) and aunties telling stories of her family’s weaving traditions.

Spirited: Prohibition in America at the Park City Museum
SPIRITED: Prohibition in America, is the temporary exhibit at Park City Museum appropriately located in the Saloon. Donna Kozlowski, Park City Chamber staffer assigned to the museum says, “This is one of the best exhibits we've ever had. It's so much more than just prohibition, it’s about the whole era.” Videos, photos, fashion, memorabilia and storyboards illustrate life in the USA during that era and the concerns which led up to the enactment of the 18th amendment.Be sure to visit before it closes on May 25.

Free Spring Break Film Screenings
Since the fall of 1999, the Park City Film Series, has brought films to Park City and Summit County that are often not readily available at larger, commercial theaters. Most weekends you can find screenings Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 6pm, at the Jim Santy Auditorium. The auditorium seats 400 patrons and is located at 1255 Park Avenue, in the historic building that originally housed the high school. From documentaries to independent film to special community screening events, the Park City Film Series takes its service to our community seriously. And nowhere is that commitment more evident, perhaps, than during spring break.

The annual Poetry Out Loud Festival encourages students from across the country to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance. Park City is not only home to world class arts and culture experiences, we have a growing creative maker movement. From artisan chocolate and coffee to ski poles, t-shirts, shoes, books, jewelry, and toys, our town is bursting with locals who have moved a creative vision from idea to product. In December 2016, the Park City Summit County Arts Council launched a three day pop-up called BRANDed PC to showcase some of our creative producers and tell their stories. The space was designed as a gallery, editorial spotlight, and matchmaker between makers and the larger community.

Sundance 2017 Wrapped
Sundance 2017 was one for the record books. As it often does in the mountains in January, the snow dumped. And then it dumped more -- making our winter wonderland magical but quite a trick to get around. Luckily, our Park City snow removal team stepped up to the challenge to clear the three feet that fell. The independently organized Women's March on Main drew thousands of locals and visitors who walked, chanted, and stood in unity to speak collective truth to power. Power outages and a cyberattack on the Sundance website created additional challenges, but the inspired films, music, VR, panel discussions, networking, and storytelling went on in the true independent spirit of the Festival.
