Acclaimed Musical "Evita" Comes to Main Street

Simon Fest Theatre Company from Cedar City, Utah is bringing its production of Evita to Park City’s historic Egyptian Theatre stage.

The winner of seven 1980 Tony awards including Best Musical and Best Score, Evita by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice celebrates the life Evita Duarte and her rise from a poor childhood to near Sainthood in her home country of Argentina.

Set between 1934 and 1952, the events of Eva’s life unfold as she transitions from an ambitious actress to the wife of military leader and eventual President, Juan Peron. She is unchallenged as the most powerful woman in Latin America before her early death from cancer.

Don’t Cry for Me Argentina is the show’s powerful masterpiece and will forever be associated with the compelling woman behind the inspiration.

Evita runs  August 11 through 14. Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 8 pm with Sunday shows beginning at 6 pm. For tickets, go to Parkcityshows.com.
