Park City Gallery Spotlight // Gaia on Main

We are pleased to introduce Gaia on Main as our February gallery feature! Our monthly blog series showcases all of our wonderful Park City galleries on a rotating basis.

Every month we tell the story of a local gallery and the gallerists and artists behind them. For this month’s spotlight we spoke with Koral Zeytoni, co-owner of Gaia on Main at 314 Main St. in Park City.

Gaia on Main is a space that showcases crystal and reclaimed exotic wood sculptures, mostly by  Dorit Schwartz. They are about to introduce Matt Sampson, a metal artist, into the space as well.

To learn more about Gaia on Main, we spoke with gallery co-owner Koral Zeytoni. Here’s more from her.

Arts Council: Tell me a bit about Gaia on Main.
Koral Zeytoni: My partner and I wanted to do something new, something big together, so we decided to open this gallery on Main St.  It’s a holistic gallery showcasing artists that transform art using natural materials and essences of the energy of life. Zeytoni  connected with her first artist Dorit Schwartz while she was looking for artists to represent, and loved her work! Zeytoni and Schwarts connected through natural elements of the sculptures. Schwartz utilizes crystals and repurposed wood from around the world to create her sculptures that are on exhibit at Gaia on Main. After meeting Schwartz, Zeytoni and Kurtz decided to open up a permanent gallery, but they wanted it to look and feel different than other galleries.

AC: Tell me about the selection of artists that you feature in the gallery.
KZ: We are looking to represent more artists in the future, but we will still keep things in their natural materials. Material coming from crystals, wood and metals. Right now we have Matt Sampson’s joining us who works in metals. He will be at the gallery during Last Friday Gallery Stroll this Friday!

AC: Do you have a favorite piece in the space right now?
KZ: Flame and Silver’s Power. Come in and check it out!

AC: Do you have any upcoming exhibits in the pipeline?
KZ: We are looking for more artists to join us and we still plan to have a grand opening at some point! We will be encouraging people to stop by for this Friday’s February Gallery Stroll!

AC:  Why do you think art is important?
KZ: It makes life richer. Art is the beauty of life. Art is the bridge to a person’s spirit and soul. It’s a way for people to communicate without saying the words.

Stop by Gaia on Main at 314 Main St. they are open every day 10am to 7pm. Follow them on Facebook or Instagram for updates on what’s new in the gallery.
