Sundance Film Festival’s Return to Park City

The 2023 Sundance Film Festival is making its return to Park City after two years of hosting the festival virtually. Taking place from January 19th through the 29th, screenings will be held all around Park City, Salt Lake City and the Sundance Resort. Folks wanting to avoid the snowy roads can still participate virtually and watch films from January 24th through the 29th. 

Featuring over 100 films this year, the Festival’s return seemingly has something in store for everyone. Here are some of this year’s most anticipated Sundance films: 

Sometimes I Think About Dying — Fran (Daisy Ridley) makes a connection with the charming new guy at work (Dave Merheje). The only thing standing in their way is Fran herself. (Director: Rachel Lambert, Screenwriters: Kevin Armento, Stefanie Abel Horowitz, Katy Wright-Mead, Producers: Alex Saks, Daisy Ridley, Dori Rath, Lauren Beveridge, Brett Beveridge) World Premiere.

AUM: The Cult at the End of the World — Directors Ben Braun and Chiaki Yanagimoto examine Aum Shinrikyo, the cult responsible for the deadly 1995 nerve gas attack in a Tokyo subway. (Producers: Dan Braun, Josh Braun, Rick Brookwell) World Premiere. 

Little Richard: I Am Everything — A profile of Little Richard that digs into the Black queer roots of rock ’n’ roll. (Director and Producer: Lisa Cortés, Producers: Robert Friedman, Liz Yale Marsh, Caryn Capotosto) World Premiere. Documentary 

birth/rebirth — A single mother and a childless morgue technician reanimate a dead little girl. (Director and Screenwriter: Laura Moss, Screenwriter: Brendan J. O’Brien, Producers: Mali Elfman, David Grove Churchill Viste). World Premiere.

Infinity Pool — James (Alexander Skarsgard) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) are enjoying an all-inclusive beach vacation when a fatal accident brings to light the resort’s perverse subculture of hedonistic tourism and reckless violence. (Director and Screenwriter: Brandon Cronenberg, Producers: Karen Harnisch, Andrew Cividino, Christian Piovesan, Noah Segal, Rob Cotterill, Anita Juka) World Premiere.

Polite Society — Aspiring martial artist Ria Khan (Priya Kansara) enlists her friends to attempt to save her older sister, Lena (Ritu Arya), from an impending marriage. (Director and Screenwriter: Nida Manzoor, Producers: Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Olivier Kaempfer, John Pocock) World Premiere.

Cat Person — When college student Margot (Emilia Jones) meets 33-year-old Robert (Nicholas Braun) at the movie theater where she works, the two begin a flirtatious relationship. Based on Kristen Roupenian’s 2017 New Yorker short story, (Director: Susanna Fogel, Screenwriter: Michelle Ashford, Producers: Helen Estabrook, Jeremy Steckler) World Premiere. 

Eileen — Set in the 1960’s, Eileen follows a prison secretary (Thomasin McKenzie) who develops a friendship with the new glamorous counselor (Anne Hathaway) before things take a turn and a secret is revealed. Based on Ottessa Moshfegh’s award-winning novel. The Pod Generation — A New York couple attempts to start a family through the new technology of a detachable artificial womb. (Director and Screenwriter: Sophie Barthes, Producers: Geneviève Lemal, Yann Zenou, Nadia Kamlichi, Martin Metz) World Premiere. 

You Hurt My Feelings — A novelist (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) begins questioning her marriage after she overhears her husband (Tobias Menzies) criticizing her latest book. (Director and Screenwriter: Nicole Holofcener, Producers: Stefanie Azpiazu, Anthony Bregman) World Premiere.

Invisible Beauty — Bethann Hardison looks back on her legacy as a pioneering Black model, modeling agent, and activist for racial diversity. (Directors: Bethann Hardison, Frédéric Tcheng, Producer: Lisa Cortés). World Premiere. Documentary.
