The Scarlet Pimpernel Arrives at the Egyptian Theatre

The cast of Ogden’s Ziegfeld Theatre is coming to Park City’s Egyptian Theatre March 24th through April 2nd with their latest production The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Journey back to 1792 for this drama-filled glimpse into the reign of terror taking place during the French Revolution as a secret society of daring Englishmen set out to rescue French aristocrats from the guillotine. Their mysterious leader known as The Scarlet Pimpernel and is one of the first ever “secret identity heroes” similar to figures that proceeded him such as Superman, Batman and Zorro. However unlike those who followed, he doesn’t wear a costume or a distinctive mask. He chooses many different disguises but uses a recognizable calling card bearing a red flower.

This swashbuckling action-filled adventure is based on the famous 20th-century novel written by Baroness Orczy.

The play, having been originally performed on Ziegfeld’s own stage, has garnered great reviews even prior to its opening at the Egyptian. Audiences are raving about the powerful performances of Cameron Kapetanov as Sir Percy Blakeney, Becky Jeanne Knowles as Marguerite St. Just and Quinn Kapetanov as Citizen Chauvelin.

The show’s most popular musical numbers include “Into The Fire”, “When I Look At You”, “She Was There” and “I’ll Forget You”.

The costumes and sets are outstanding with a guillotine so realistic the front row may fear they are sitting in the splash zone!
