The 24th annual Slamdance Film Festival held in Park City January 19-25 is contained within The Treasure Mountain Inn. Slamdance is a showcase for raw and innovative filmmaking self governed - By Filmmakers, For Filmmakers. The year-round organization serves new and emerging artists, filmmakers and storytellers.
One film has the distinction of being selected to screen at both Slamdance and Berlinale 2018.

Carol Dalton, a Parkite who loves attending the festival, has been volunteering for over 20 years. “Friends were doing it and I've been a fan of independent films since my teens. Ever the rebel, my teenage friends and I saw Clockwork Orange, Deep Throat and Reefer Madness. I was hooked!”

Sara Hutchinson, Programs Manager, explains why. “We changed the name from ‘Author-in-Residence’ to ‘One Book One Community presented by PCEF’ because that is a national program with great name recognition. Over the past nine years, it has morphed from a student-only program to one in which the local libraries and many book groups took part. We appreciate the support of our local libraries and love the idea of the entire community reading one book.”

That’s when she really started to love, appreciate and embrace independent cinema in general and documentary film specifically.

This project came to fruition through conversations that took place last summer when the KAC first reached out to OTC to develop their Sip + Sketch / Wine + Watercolor classes, which are held at OTC. The classes are taught by KAC instructors, and are meant to be fun and accessible for anyone to enjoy. The wine, of course, is a nice addition to the art classes.
Jamie Wilcox has seen tremendous growth in her 6 years as director of The Egyptian Youtheatre program. The program offers from 15-18 weekly classes each fall and spring session and 20 summer camps for ages 5-18 and 2 outreach projects each summer for students age 5 and up.

Read MoreLive theatrical performances have long been a centerpiece of Park City's culture. In the late 1800's, the ornate Park City Opera House was located near our current site. On a warm June night in 1898, fire roared downhill from the American Hotel and quickly consumed most of the town, including the Opera House. In a Determined effort to restore live theatre to the town, the Dewey Theatre soon opened its doors in 1899 on the site of what is now the Egyptian Theatre. The Dewey remained a popular cultural center until its roof collapsed under a record-breaking snow load in 1916.
